Default WHERE for Storm - Anying Running It?

Please Login to Remove!

Is anyone currently running WHERE on their Storm?

I just got the link sent to my phone and I am wondering what are the pro's and con's are for the individuals users of this app.

If you you don't have it already, it's a pretty cool looking app I just ran across that uses the GPS capabilities of the phone to locate hotspots, restaurants, stores, etc. You can go to the website and add widgets for free on a Blackberry. I have posted the link below.

WHERExxx8482; GPS Mobile Application, iPhone App & Location Based Services Development Platform

Here is a link for WHERE employees reviewing WHERE for the STORM

I am running it. Seems pretty neat. They still have some more developement as news, and a couple of other things do not work yet. The GPS seems to work and can locate where you are. I will hang onto it for a while and see how things go with it.

paulmac,

I was just installing it and was already alerted to an upgrade. I just upgraded and was told to reboot. So waiting now.

You might want to upgrade your version.

paulmac,

I was asked to activate the GPS function on my phone. Isn't this already running?

If not, is there a cost associated with activating the GPS function?

I am running it - seems they are pretty early in development.

It's promising. *Someone* needs to do this concept well.

Where isn't quite there yet but the framework seems pretty elegant.

They need to allow customization of the top screen. For instance, I could care less where the closest Starbucks is.

Would be cool to have an aggregated listing screen as well. For instance, I would have it pull weather, gas prices and traffic onto one screen.

kurichan,

do you have to run VZ navigator to get this to work? Or is there a free app to activate the GPS functions on the Storm?

I have it installed but can't seem to get it to locate my Storm via the GPS function.

I don't even have VZ Navigator installed so I doubt that has anything to do with your problem. I do have Blackberry Maps installed though.

Where seems VERY slow the first time it does anything (GPS locate, launch new widget, etc.), so you might give it more time?

But perhaps more importantly, I've found that the Storm GPS is fundamentally useless indoors (as are most GPS chips).

If you're inside, step outside. Outdoors, the Storm chip seems to find satellites impressively quickly!

HTH

Edit: Also, of course, make sure you have location based services turned on in Options
