Default What is the Best Task Application For the Bold?

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking for a "to do"/task app for my bold. I prefer something that has a nice interface and that integrates with the existing BB task application (mostly because I back up my BB via Mobical and it can sync items on the BB's standard task list).

Thanks!

I prefer the built in Tasks, it does everything I need.

It what way is the Tasks app failing you? What extra features are you looking for?

Default BB Task app

Rex Wireless ToDo Matrix.
If you need/want anything more than the BB Task app.
Others try and some are OK but REX delivers.
1. Outstanding Support
2. Powerful Platform Compliment
3. Complete.

Huh? That list says absolutely nothing. What exactly does REX offer that Tasks doesn't?

There's a debate on this in the Aftermarket Software Forum. I use BB Task Pro as it allows for much better category/date sorting than anything else I have seen.

Thanks. That is mainly what I'm looking for - the ability to sort by category/date/etc. I manage multiple projects at work so being able to do this (which the current app cannot do) is very important for me. I will check this out. Thanks!

I think you just missed the options you are looking for, both the options that you said the stock app can't do it does do, and does them very easily and well.

You can easily create categories and sort by categories. You can also easily sort by date.

I can't sort by date across multiple categories with the standard app. And I need to be able to compare tasks side-by-side for various projects, which the stock app also can't do. I manage multiple projects at work, so need something that I can view the outstanding tasks for each project side-by-side, sorted by date and/or priority. I'd also like to be able to color-code tasks.

Ah colour coding, that's the one thing you've mentioned that the stock app won't do.

They offer the ability for you to have to maintain your tasks using a whole seperate application and web interface from the one that you already use for everything else. So instead of being able to update tasks in a single place and have them get updated on your device and PC, you have to have a whole new workflow to do it and make an extra effort. Also, you get the added benefit of yearly subsrciption fees I beleive.

I like NextAction! from S4BB. It is very simple and streamlined, and provides alot of the functionality you are looking for. I also like that it is unaffected by the inability of BES to accurately reconcile task due date/time information with Microsoft Outlook. So you should look at that one as well.

I just started using the task feature on my Curve 8300 after owning the phone for over 2 years and I must say it is VERY helpful and now I see why people use task features on their phones and pcs. Before I didn't. LOL

Anyway, just wondering if the Bold's Task manager is any diffferent/better than the one on the Curve? If it is different/better, what has Rim upgraded for the Bold for the Task Manager?

I use ToDoMatrix and IdeaMatrix. They are fantastic programs that integrate with all the other BB apps. Your info is uploaded to the Rex servers, so if your berry goes down or you upgrade the OS...simply re-download the app and it downloads all of your info back into the program. You can set reminders, email the notes, print, pretty much do anthing you want with it.
The only downside was that bundled together...they are $99!

$99 looks very expensive,

Keeping our private information in third party server looks pretty 'risky'!

I hope our 'notes' are password protected! Stil looking 'odd'!!!!

Depends on what your definition of 'best' is. Lot of users here will vouch by in-built task list - I personally used it for a long time. I found a new task list called maratick (freeware) that I like better than the inbuilt one.
You can try it from following web site:
Ted Regsuren's BB page

Windows Mobile gang vouches by ListPro that is not available for Blackberry (yet).

Be your own judge in choosing what suits your needs following testing.
