Build quality of 7100g

The metal strip above the earpiece on my 7100 started lifting up about a month ago, but I had been able to press it back into place. Now it does not stay on at all on the ends...apparently, it is just glued on and the glue has failed.
Cingular won't replace it, RIM tells me to go to the carrier, who already told me they won't replace it.
I'm very surprised that this does not stand up to the build quality I had on the 7290.
