It gets more stupid everyday. When somebody else sends me a message from their Blackberry using their own BIS account (Not a Yahoo account) to my Yahoo account through BIS on my Blackberry their message goes to my Inbox as well as MY sent message folder on Yahoo on the web.

So, I have "anybody and every body's" sent messages (whether I sent them or not) in my sent message folder on Yahoo Mail on the web.

I am hoping Yahoo checks this board so somebody can address this problem.

sounds like someone has a forwarding rule set somewhere. or this is strictly a yahoo issue... want their number?

Yeah totally... I spent like a half hour coming up with contact info for the Yahoo people but the phone number I got only does "billing." I tried live "chat" but they don't do Mobile Mail and referred me to email tech help which I have already done once. I just got a response from them today that didn't help at all (as usual.) And this isn't just happening to me - there are 2 Blackberries in the home and the same Yahoo problem is happening to both of them. Tomorrow I'm going to call RIM and pay them if I have to to see if I can get some kind of answer here.

But it would be totally cool if you have some kind of phone number for Yahoo - I would try that first so I don't have to pay unless I have to...

ok just woke up in the middle of the night, the number is buried in a drawer in my bedroom. Wife is sleeping, but ill dig it out in the morning and send it to you.

BTW the issue I stated that is probably IE8, you dont need to get rid of IE8, just download and install firefox as a secondary backup browser. And try BIS with it.

I do have Firefox on one computer (I forgot I had that) thanks for the suggestion - I'll give it a try...

I will post here when I get some kind of answer, even if I don't like what the answer is. I'm not going to let this go until I do...

Apparently Yahoo, no matter what phone number you call, doesn’t take tech help calls anymore… just billing.

I spent an hour on the phone with AT&T/Blackberry tonight… got to tech help level three with a “Blackberry Specialist” before I got no answer at all. He said it was a Yahoo problem. But after I hung up I put my Gmail account through BIS and the same thing happened. So, you can’t manage a third party email app through BIS alone – you have to log onto whoever your email provides is (Yahoo/Gmail) via the blackberry browser to delete sent messages sent from the Blackberry (or wait until you get to a computer.) Which makes putting Yahoo or Gmail through BIS pointless.

Of course I want to personally thank Yahoo – after emailing them back and forth for over a week – explaining in detail my problem over and over and over and over – I got the following insightful response today…

“Thanks for getting back to us. For IMAP protocol you need to have setup your Yahoo! Mail account following these instructions:

Yahoo! Mail will work on any Blackberry.

1. On your BlackBerry home screen, select Tools > Setup Internet Email.
2. Select Email Accounts.
3. Select Add an Email Account.
4. Type in your full Yahoo! Mail address (including the @yahoo.com)
and Yahoo! password in the appropriate fields.
5. You will receive a confirmation message.
6. Emails will start arriving in approximately 20 minutes.

I hope this answers your question. If you need any further assistance, please feel free to contact us again.”

So, hope this helps somebody looking for answers in the future that this problem – at this point in time – can’t be solved.

for your gmail account, log into your BIS site, delete the gmail account, re-add it but when it asks for email, pass and confirm pass... only put in email and submit
you will get an error but then you will get a manual option.. continue and choose personal.

for server put in imap.gmail.com
also make sure imap is enabled from your gmail settings
BIS has started a new GIMAP which it defaults to when adding it automatically. I think it still has some bugs. IM using imap.gmail.com rather than the new GIMAP and it works perfect.

I have a computer with Fire fox and was able to get to "manual enter settings" on the BIS website when using that browser instead of IE8. So you were right about the browser being the problem. makes me wonder about IE8....

Now that I can manual configure I will try a bunch of things when I get home tonight.

Just to clarify - you are saying you can run Gmail through BIS and manage ALL your mail from your Blackberry? You don't have to go home to your computer and delete the sent messages???

I set up the Gmail account through BIS manually and the same problem is still there. I made sure all the settings were correct (port 993, etc.) and Gmail proved more of a problem than Yahoo - In addition to the sent message you can't delete from the BB there is an "auto confirmation" that goes in the inbox telling you that the message was delivered... Gmail won't delete that either (Yahoo will) - you have to do it from the computer or from Gmail via the browser.

In the end I don't have a problem with deleting sent messages from the computer as long as they are in Outlook. Since Yahoo does not have IMAP through Outlook I have to access Yahoo from my computer browser to delete the sent messages I send from the BB... meaning I am "managing" my Yahoo mail from three locations which is flat out unacceptable.

Sometimes I wonder if the "tech" things in my life are only here to make life more difficult for me... the utterly tragic part is I pay money for this... I think they should pay me for "pain and suffering"...

why is it so important to delete sent messages? Just leave em there. You have enough storage space

Because it's the stuff "I send." If it was other things then it wouldn't matter so much... I don't want messages I send sitting on the server.

If I had IMAP capability through Outlook, so the server would match in Outlook - then I could manage my mail from just 2 locations (I think but I have to test this.) As I don't like Gmail due to the conversation feature I may use AOL who is IMAP.

I will call Blackberry again because they blamed Yahoo and clearly it's not Yahoo - it's BIS. Hopefully one day this will fix this as it's a major bummer.

you can setup gmail to imap then setup outlook to imap

just dont do it with outlook 2007.... VERY slow. I switched back to outlook 2003 but left the rest of office 2007

I have Outlook 2007 with no access to 2003... and I actually remember putting Gmail through it and it was indeed slow...

I went through all the people at AT&T in the Tech help area and now am working with Blackberry themselves.... They had me try something last night and wait until today to see if it worked - it didn't so I'll be calling them back. At least they will know about the problem now and be able to fix it for the future (that is if there is no resolution to it.)

After dealing with Blackberry at length they finally told me it can't be fixed. You see they want you to go with BES - but you have to be on Microsoft Exchange for BES to work. I don't have Microsoft Exchange. I have no IT department, I am just a regular person - but I still think I should be able to sync my Microsoft Office 2007 (which I do have) with my Blackberry - which I can do with the desktop manager... but to leave "email syncing" out of the loop is ridiculous. I also asked Blackberry to give me the settings so I could possibly sync my "name@blackberry.att.net" account through Office 2007. They wouldn't give me the settings. So with e-mail on the Blackberry I am falling through the cracks here...

But there is hope - Yahoo contacted me today and said their techs are aware of the problem and are fixing it. So... there may be a resolution after all.

In the end Blackberry needs to meet the needs of BOTH BES and BIS customers. To leave out FULL email syncing because you roll with BIS is not acceptable.

I will report back if Yahoo pulls this off....

only way to do full out syncing on BIS through outlook is to use full IMAP, which since its outlook 2007 it will be slow until MS makes a patch.
as for your att.bb.net emal, there is no info they can give you, it is a hosted address and it is ONLY accessible from your device.
