I just bought a 2.5 mm to 3.5mm jack adapter for my bb pearl 8100, so i could use my skullcandy earbuds to listen to my music. I hooked everything up right but when i select a song and choose output to headset, it just comes out of the handset speaker. I also have xPlayer and it gives you the option to output to headset, but it does the same thing. I also tried to play a game and see if the audio would come out of my headphones, but it didn't, but it didn't come out of the phone either.

BTW: I have a t-mobile bb, so i force upgraded it to the 4.5 OS from the 4.2 OS about 3-4 hours ago, could this be whats wrong??

I don't think its the os, its a hardware issue. With my 8100 the only headphones I got to work was one with a 2.5 jack - one earphone and the mike. Tried all combinations - and I mean all - of 2.5 and 3.5 adapters and styles of headphones to no avail. The only stereo headphones I did get to work were the standard RIM issue ones with the mike as well - and they're those hard buggers that hurt me ears like hell.

Some people say stuff like fit earphones to the adapter before plugging in to the phone jack or doing things in a certain order but I found it didn't make one bit o difference.
