Default blackberry 8900 and mac eject question

Please Login to Remove!

hi all,

i jut had a question about my 8900 and my mac.

i plugged my 8900 into my mac usb slot and downloaded some songs onto the phone via missing sync. after the downloads finished i unplugged the blackberry and got an error on my computer that said something like "device was not properly ejected" or something like that.

would that harm my blackberry at all or just the files that were transferred over? i mean i did wait until the songs were all finished transferring.

let me know.

thanks!

This is more of a warning. It would do the same thing if you unplugged a USB key. Since the transfer was completed there shouldn't be an issue.

It's good practice to do it anyway as there could be some orphaned files left behind that would have been removed if you properly ejected the 'volume'

Files may be left on the Mac. Not a biggie really but you should always eject the resource before removing it as it actually mounts as a volume. Mac's are very UNIX-ie

I've never done the eject on a windows machine, never had any problems. I recently upgraded to a mac and had the same error message. so I started ejecting from the mac. new computer = new process, I can learn a new trick ;)

then I plugged into a windows machine to move some files and when I unplugged the BB without ejecting, the sd card hiccuped. error saying there was a corrupt something. I plugged back in, ran an error check with nothing coming up to fix. I ejected the BB and every thing was fine.

was the error related to the non-eject disconnect? who knows, probably not. but for the sake of continuity between machines I'll be doing it from now on, doesn't hurt anything to do it.
