Unhappy "File System Full" Grr! What's going on?

Please Login to Remove!

I only have maybe ten pictures on my NEW phone, no videos, no recordings, no songs, etc... And I can't save ANY new photos I take or receive and also cannot save any videos, recordings, etc...

I always get the messege "File System Full"? Anyone have any idea what's going on here? I have a friend with the exact same phone and she doesnt have an extra memory card or anything like that and she has tons of pictures on her phone and no trouble saving anything (but she also doesnt know how to help me haha) Help! Thanks

Check the free memory (options / status). Do you have a media card for your photos and ringtones? The Curve has limited memory and storing stuff like pictures and ringtones in the phone's memory tends to eat up available resources.

Also check out this thread for information about freeing as much memory as possible.

You should also do regular (every couple of days) battery pulls - pull the battery out of the phone while it is powered up - some OSes and some apps have pretty serious memory leaks.

Definitely get a media card and store all media files (pictures, ringtones, music, video etc) on it. Especially if you're not carefully monitoring your device memory usage.

How is it though that this other person, with the same phone who does not have a media card, can save pics, videos, etc and I can't save one with just ten photos on my phone?

Have you checked for languages and any other garbage that may be on your phone?

Perhaps the other person is saving pictures that are smaller in size

And I'm certain they are NOT saving videos to internal memory, as that is just not possible.

Wirelessly posted (curv 8310)

Do you have any aps installed on your phone? They also eat up space. The format and size of the pics will also determine the size of the file.

Yes - there is a limit (2.3mb?) on the size of files stored to internal memory.

I think she has a media card installed but doesn't know it.

Ask her to pull the battery and look at the media card holder.
