Default home screen icons

I have noticed that i no longer have the message and calendar preview on the middle of my home screen. I had downloaded a theme when I first got my Curve 8900 and just recently deleted the theme and noticed the previews were gone. How do I get them back?

I believe there is a menu choice somewhere to unhide all icons, then you can rehide what you don't want to see. Forgot how to get there though. Maybe someone remembers.

Keep me honest here, but I believe that the OP was referring to the Message and Calendar previews inherent in Today and Today Plus themes.

Today and Today Plus theme types are the only themes that have this feature-Zen and Icon based themes do not have the visible home screen previews.

If there are any icons hidden on the 8900, the Menu key will have an item to Show All which will allow you to see them. It doesn't seem to be global though - some folders with apps in them may also have hidden icons and you have to descend into that folder to unhide those there.

+1. That's how I read this as well. What theme are you currently using? Is it a Today/Today Plus theme?

I think the theme you deleted was a today plus theme, like they said above. The regular themes don't show the little list in the middle of the home screen. I use one that only shows the messages when you roll the cursor over the messages icon and the same for Calendar. Otherwise the homescreen is clean.

I've never seen previews on either of the two built in themes on the 8900.

I don't think so, at least not on my 8900. Those two themes are basically the same, except for the background and neither is a today theme.

Interesting. Could you post screen shots? I've never heard of different versions of the same theme. And sounds like that the alternate silver may be worth looking at.

Ok, I did a bit of googling and found a theme called Precision Silver Today. I am guessing that is the one you are referring too. It is not a stock theme.

I had given up on non-stock themes for the 8900 because they can cause problems after a battery pull or soft reset, but now will use some occasionally. I finally found out that you have to make sure you either switch to a stock theme or have no unread emails before any reset. The BB doesn't always reset correctly if one of those two things aren't followed. So if I am using a non-stock theme, I reset daily, so the BB won't decide it needs to reset on its own, when I am not prepared for it to do that.
