Default New Barnes & Noble eBook app for BB

Please Login to Remove!

Barnes and Noble Ereader Mobile Download

Good news: it's spiffy. Set up your online account, install the free app, log in. Downloaded books save to your SD card.

Bad news: looks like the reader won't work on things like PDFs that you already own. At this point you're pretty much locked in to free eBooks from Google, and the eBooks you buy online from B&N. So I'm not getting rid of Mobipocket just yet.

Looks like a very useful app

B&N reader is the same reader as the one offered on ereader.com - the only difference is the title page, version number and file name. Size of reader is about 1MB.
Barnes & Noble recently bought out ereader.com (which in turn bought out Fictionwise).

All the ebooks are DRM locked pdb files and need a name and credit card number to decrypt.
It won't read unencrypted pdb files.

No autoscrolling!?! Am I missing how to enable this feature...so far I can only advance pages via the trackball or space bar... :(

They do give you a few books (Little Women, Dracula, Pride and Prejudice, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and the M-W Pocket Dictionary).

I assume it will be an almost immediate update. I still see it better than some of the twitter apps already

Dictionaries aren't linked to the ebook, so it's not very useful.
It is missing a lot of features which are present in other platform (iphone, Palm OS, Windows mobile) ebook readers
1) autoscrolling
2) categories for library (I own over 200 ereader books...)
3) filter for library (view name, size, words etc)
4) changing font colours
5) changing viewing modes (eg. night reading which is white font on black background)
6) read unencrypted pdb ebooks
7) read text files
8) link dictionary or thesaurus to the ebook (ie. word search)
9) mapping other keys and functions
10) smaller application footprint option for non-wireless connectivity (ie. I just want a reader without wireless download to the site)

Some others features are lurking out there, but I need my caffeine hit now...
