Really I am quite amazed. I was trying to find a way to change the pin on my new backberry, I found this forum, and without a resolution the thread refering to changing a pin, was closed. No one seemed to know how to do it. Well I don´t know if there is a offical way, but finally I just put the sim card in another phone and changed it with no problem.

I am quite amazed no one in a "Blackberry" forum could figure that out. This is my first Blackberry, I have had it for about 45 minutes.

PINS are phone specific. You can't change them

The PIN is like the serial number of the device. As Dingster said, it cannot be changed.

Why do you want to change it anyway, if this is your first device? What would you change it TO?

Or do you mean the SIM PIN?

Neoman2445 - the PIN is unique to a BlackBerry. Putting a SIM card into another phone did not change the PIN.

So, it's not so amazing after all. Wow.

You can do what I did. I just had my PIN tattooed on the inside of my eyelid, that way if I need to give out my PIN I just close that eye and hold up a really bright flashlight.

This can be done quite easily on a blackberry too, just goto options - advanced options - sim card and once you enable security (if it isn't already) you can then change the sim pin there.

One thing for future reference, this pin is generally known as pin1 with some simcards also supporting a pin2 and as others have pointed out to you, a blackberry has its own id that is called a pin too, so it is important to be clear what you mean since for all anyone knew you could have been talking about the pin of your bankcard.

That's because you didn't clarify what you meant. PIN in the Blackberry world typically refers to the PIN (hardware address) of a BB or to PIN messages.

If you're referring to the security code for your SIM then you need to clearly indicate that given that PIN typically means something entirely different to every BB user.

The company I work for gave me a Blackberry to use.
After 18 months it failed and they gave me replacement BB, from a employee who had left four months previously. That employee had set a PIN on the SIM card and I needed to change it, but I could not find the process through the Blackberry's menus. So I went looking for Blackberry forums.
I found this forum and read through it to see how I could change the PIN for the SIM that was installed in the Blackberry.
I was amazed at the unhelpfulness of the answers that I found here.
Only 1 person, SKEEVECR attempted to answer the original question.
All of the other replies were technically correct, and the repliers certainly showed that they knew what they were talking about. But most of them did not help the original author with his problem. Only SKEEVECR was helpful.
I use many forums, but this particular thread is one of the unfriendliest that I have seen for a while.

PIN has multiple meanings. When someone says "How do I change my PIN on my BlackBerry", the correct answer is "you can't". It gets asked a lot.

When someone asks "How do I change the PIN on the SIM card", they get a different answer.

Unfortunately two questions - totally different - generate different answers.

The OP asked to chang the PIN on the BlackBerry, not on the SIM card. I believe that everyone helped out in answering that question.

Like someone said, asking how to change the PIN on a BlackBerry and changing the PIN on the SIM card are 2 totally different questions.

What amazes me is how many first time posters will "flame" the responses given when they are unfamiliar with the site. IMHO, not a good way to get started.
