It was pulled to keep the visual voicemail software off the phones. That is the only way to control the addition of the software since the prior Bold software release did not include it. Once AT&T figures out what they're doing on their end, a "new" version of the software will be released and the BBVV SOC code can be added through Phoenix (I believe that's still correct) again. This is nothing more than an attempt to cover up a network issue in my opinion. Visual voicemail will not be seen before the iPhones get their MMS which will probably be a mess on Friday, well those who haven't had it enabled yet.

VVM was available on prior versions, although I don't remember when it first showed up. I had it on my phone with version 192 (I think that was the version), although I couldn't have it enabled because the service was not turned on in AT&T's system.

This is now available again from AT&T, but there is a change...

EDIT: Hmm...they changed the package...the new info:
BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.6.0.517 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.6.0.517
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.6.0.297
Software Platform: 4.0.0.247
File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel517_PL4.0.0.247_A4.6.0.297_AT_am p_T.exe
File size: 96.79MB

Original package:
Package Version: 4.6.0.508
Consisting of:
Applications: 4.6.0.297
Software Platform: 4.0.0.243
File name: 9000M_PBr4.6.0_rel508_PL4.0.0.243_A4.6.0.297_AT_am p_T.exe
File size: 96.79MB

So, the software platform has been updated? Interesting...I was wondering why I was prompted with an upgrade when I sync'ed the other day. Anybody know what changes if you only upgrade the platform? Anybody care to be the guinea pig?

Bundle 517 contains all the functionality of the recently-removed bundle 508, but addresses the software issue affecting the interaction between the device and network enhancements being deployed. There are no additional changes in bundle 517 (as compared to earlier BlackBerry Bold MR bundle 508) other than addressing the software issue.

For a review of the added functionality contained in this release, please see the original communications for BlackBerry Bold Maintenance Release.

Customers who downloaded bundle 508 should upgrade as soon as they are able as bundle 508 contains the software issue that is addressed in bundle 517. Customers on earlier versions (bundle 298 and maintenance release bundle 438) should be made aware of the performance enhancements and added capabilities of bundle 517 and should be encouraged to certify and upgrade their users.

For those on the prior .297, does this cause a complete wipe or are some cods merely updated?

VVM has been available and working ever since .297 was originally released weeks ago. Pulling the OS from distribution didn't stop the functionality of VVM itself, it's been working fine for me since I had it provisioned a few weeks ago.

Weird stuff here...

Up until a few minutes ago, both BlackBerryReview and BlackBerryCool RSS feeds on my Viigo app had articles about the AT&T .517 upgrade...and now both articles have suddenly and mysteriously disappeared!!

Wonder if AT&T has pulled back the .517 build update all of a sudden?

Hmmmm...why would both pull them at the same time, or close to it?

I'm on AT&T and had updated to the previous .297 release via desktop, and had had no problems with the release. I set up VVM and it's been working great. But with the newer .297 release, I was curious to do the update directly on the phone via the Wireless Update option, so I did it last night. Glad to say it went smoothly, took less time (maybe 30 minutes as opposed to the usual 45 or so) and all is still operating fine, my VVM is still there and working like a charm.

I definitely liked the Wireless Update but since I don't want to wait just for AT&T updates, I'll be doing the desktop updates for future non-AT&T releases, I'm sure.

By the way... I had the "old" .297. I'm currently doing a wireless upgrade to the "new" one. It's my first time updating wireless... let's hope it doesn't screw everything up!

I would resend your service books or register your host routing table.
