We just purchased several dozen Bold 9000's for our company. We've been testing with two of the phones to ensure reliability before we deploy to the field. There seems to be an issue with the mass storage capabilities of these phones. I have read through several threads on this forum and seen numerous work arounds and suggestions of non-approved batch files to "fix" the problem.

Is there a RIM solution to this problem? We simply can't afford the time to perform a workaround on every phone before it is deployed and we certainly don't want to send them out to the field knowing they are defective.

Should we just return the phones and look for a device that is reliable?

Any suggestions would be helpful in making our decision.

What's there to fix? I've never heard of there being a problem to begin with.
What exactly is the trouble you're experiencing?

Yes there is a problem with older refurbished bb bolds. The fix only takes a min. I understand not wanting to fix it they should have been fixed before you got them. Did you buy them from a good place? The bold is a great phone and if you can get them fixed or feel like fixing them you will be happy with them.

And the problem is when connecting them to the pc they don't show up as having a mc installed in it. You could always just use a msd adapter to transfer files also.

I am guessing that these phones were bought "unlocked"?

Yes they were bought unlocked.

Easy fix 2 min or so a phone. Worth the fix. I dont have a unlocked phone just a refurb. But it has the same problem. Fix was easy.

I was able to find the fix here. It worked for me. Who knew that AT&T was sending out refurbished units that had been previously unlocked? Thank heaven for the Internet community or we would all be going mad. :P

This is a well known issue when using a certain piece of software from RIM which can be used to unlock BlackBerrys, but also screws up the Mass Storage.

The fix is everywhere on the net. I don't know the password but google the fix and you will find one without a password.

Obviously you have found the solution already when you referenced the Batch file. It works so use it. Who cares where it comes from. I have it and used it without a problem. takes 30 seconds.
