Default Few questions

Hello all. I recently, last week, got the 8230 as an upgrade from Verizon. While I am still learning my way around it, I have an odd problem.

When I have it plugged in via USB, it does not charge the battery, is there a setting that I am missing or something?

Also when I am texting, the suggested text is annoying. How can I turn this off?

Thanks in advance!

Do you have Desktop Manager installed on the PC? It needs to be installed as it has the drivers for charging the device as well as the other DM functions.

Are you plugged into a HUB? If so, plug directly into the PC. BB's don't like HUBs very well.

Ah, I took it off the hub and plugged it directly in, charges now. THANKS!

I don't see an option on the DM for the texting issue though.

Can't help much with the SMS issue other than to tell you to look into your Setup menu and see if you find something there. Probably read the user guide and it can tell you.

Actually I dont think the DM is needed for charging over USB... I have even plugged the phone to my mp3 player with USB Host feature and this seems to charge the bb the same way a PC would... even let me see it in MSC mode....
So the problem could be the USB cable
