Okay so I was installing some apps one day, downloading others at the same time..suddenly I got the hourglass which never went away.

I would do a hard reset, and try clicking the app and BB key -> install but they were all stuck at 0%.

I found some forum which told me to hit alt then type 34( to reset APP world, that worked, now I'm installing one but it's literally taken like 20min for bb messenger and it's still installing.

At first it started doing the hourglass thing again now but suddenly it's showing me the 'Installing' box but still an hourglass and i can't use anythign else on the phone.

SOOOO what can i do? I'd upgrade to a newer version or someting but my messages are corrupt whenever I try and back up and I don't wnat to lose them.

What can I do?

Go through your messages, forward the messages you NEED to keep to another email account... and wipe it... sames a WORLD of hassel.

Oh, and try the 5.0.0.323

What's so good about it? Faster?
The only thing I've had problems with .144 is the constant loading and freezing for simple tasks..

Hmm strange. I tried backing up just for fun and it worked.
Installed .323...thank you for telling me this it's so much better.

Only part I'm upset about is I lost ALLLL my google map favorite locations. I had like 50, made it easy to navigate myself around lol :(

Only wipe the device as a last resort; a battery pull would probably have solved your problem, as it solves most. I would try just about anything before resorting to wiping the device.

Also, try downloading the official Verizon Storm software (if you are using the 9530 - cant see which storm in your profile)
