Default Roxio media manager problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I am running Windows XP SP3, and have a Blackberry curve 8900.

I have been using Roxio Media Manager to transfer pictures to/from my BB. However now I am seeing the following error message when I try and launch it through the BB Desktop Management application.

I have reinstalled the application several times now.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I started getting that problem. Got fed up with it. Did a Google and found DoubleTwist (correct spelling) and am rocking.
I'll never use Media Manager ever again.
Give it a shot.

Thanks for the ti. Downloaded and it works an absolute treat. Basic but user friendly with an intuitive interface.

Good shout brother!

Yes, I was amazed at how rubust it is. It converts faster than the Roxio treat.

This looks interesting. I've been looking for an alternative to Roxio. Any idea if this will un-encrypt pictures that are encrypted via IT Policy?

Ok, I downloaded the app, registered, and connected my work device that has media card encryption set via IT Policy. The application recognizes that I have a BlackBerry connected, but it doesn't prompt for my password like DM/Roxio does. I have mass storage mode enabled and can view pics via Windows Explorer, but DoubleTwist shows no pictures available.

For my personal device, that has a password but no encryption, it works fine. Sees all the pics on the device. It still does not prompt for my device password, which is troubling, to me.

Guess that answers that question.

I guess I'm missing something. What is the advantage of using anything other than Explorer to transfer pics to/from the BB? I've never installed the Roxio with DTM. I've always just used Explorer. But if there is an advantage, I'd like to know what I'm missing.

Do you intend to contribute useful information to this thread, or just troll?
It converts many formats to mp4.

I asked a perfectly valid question and got a very odd answer. Now, it seems you have had the decency to provide a more useful one - thank you.

You knew the answer when you asked the question. Enjoy the app and thread. I'm out of here.

No I didn't. I am new to this stuff - as once you were. Thanks for helping me out and being so gracious about it - I am sure all the new members to this forum and new users to BB phones are impressed by you.

None of this is helping with the OP's original question about Roxio not working at all....

If some members weren't so patronising or setting themselves up as mind-readers perhaps the content would have been more useful.

If all new members are so treated by those that have been here much longer, it's a wonder they stay around long enough to get some answers. I am new to the Curve and thought this a good place to find out more about it.

Oh. Thanks. Never needed that capability since I don't worry about video on my BB. But if I decide that I need it sometime in the future, now I know.
