Default Do APN Settings Have Anything To Do With BBM?

Please Login to Remove!

A friend of mine told me to uncheck my APN settings in options>Advanced Options>TCP/IP. Saying that unchecking that will make pictures transfer faster in BBM 5.0. Is this true? Asking because a while ago, it seemed like APN settings were essential in sending and receiving email...

No, it won't. BBMessenger uses your BIS data for transmission.

But heck, it won't kill anything to try and see, and report back your findings.

APN settings are only used for direct TCP access communications. All RIM programs use either BIS or BES so APN settings are irrelevant.

Wirelessly posted (8700c)

I have noticed that since I updated to 50 of bbm the pics go a lot slower :(

I sort of want to change it back to the original settings...cuz now, ppl have updated their bbm avatars and the new ones haven't come up. I don't know if it's directly linked to that, but it's annoying me.

What are the username/password to set in TCP/IP, anyone know? Or should I just try to backup the list and restore it?

I just spoke to AT&T support. So I changed em back.

Any other reasons why the avatars wouldn't come up? I was gonna remotely backup and then restore, just to see if the avatars all automatically updated after that. But when I tried to remotely backup to another email address, and it seemed stuck on "Checking email settings".

SMFH

Made those changes, avatars wouldn't work. Then I deleted and reinstalled...and it wouldn't restore my contacts remotely.

Ugh.
