Hello All,

When I recieve an SMS/MMS from someone in my phone book, only their phone number shows up in the from field. When I go into the text and hit menu, it has the contact name where it says, "Call ...." or "SMS . . . "

In my address, I input the phone numbers in the following format: 1-234-567-8900 .

When a SMS/MMS comes in, the format is: +2345678900

To test it out, I changed a contact to the later format, and their contact name came up in the from field in the SMS/MMS.

I did not have this issue with my 8320.

Any ideas? I assume it's a bug. does this happen on other 5.0.x.x OSs on other BBs?

does any one else have this issue on their 9700s?

I have T-Mobile. the stock OS was 5.0.0.330. I now have 5.0.0.344. Happened on both.

I just upgraded to 5.0.0.351 OS and it solved this issue.

Take out the hyphens and see if it fixes it.

dawsoni posted the answer in another thread ... No hyphens no spaces ... just the number in the contact fixes that solution ... Here i go going through 643 contacts and editing their phone numbers

It is retarded that we would have to take the hyphens out. I don't know of any other phone that has to do that.

It has to be just a bug that needs to be patched.

All of my phone numbers are formatted (xxx) xxx-xxxx, and SMS/MMS works properly and displays the name of the contact as expected. There may be a bug, but I wouldn't go and strip formatting from your numbers just yet.

Exactly... This is a known issue documented on the blackberry web site. It'll get fixed eventually, so I'm not jacking all my numbers just to get a temporary work around.

I'm glad that this is a known issue. I suppose I can deal with it until RIM issues a fix.

I'm on .344 and I've noticed that as long as I send the first txt, all the rest to that person work, until I delete them.
