So I did the alt+right caps+del trick to free up some memory. The phone turns on and all of my contacts are gone, my entire address book. I restarted it again and my girlfriends # is in there, but that's it. What on earth just happened?! I tried syncing from SkyDeck but they apparently don't have a mobile site so that's no help.

Make sure you didn't somehow enable a filter.

No filters as far as I can tell and all the options seem just as I left them. Could this be the work of SkyDeck?

First time I've heard of a reset deleting contacts. Hmmm do you have a backup copy of your data from BB desktop manager? (Sorry, not familiar with skydeck).

See what others say. I don't know SkyDeck.

If you haven't been backing up to a computer using Desktop Manager, start doing that after you re-enter you info.

I do have it backed up on DM, but how do I ensure it doesn't copy what's on the phone and end up deleting my backup list in DM?

If you restore the contact data from the backup that is already on your computer, it won't be copying the data from the device.

What MM said. Also, do a selective restore of just your contacts.

But figure out what happened. That would be a real pain if it happened when you couldn't get to your backup for a while.

I'm at work and can't get to my backup for another 7 hours. Hope it works!

If you want to play it safe, just do a one-way sync.

I would recommend doing an Advanced Restore from the backup rather than a sync. Once you verify that the contacts you want are on the device, THEN do a one way sync.
