The data plan, is it a blackberry data plan? If not, then no service books.

Does the carrier support blackberrys? That may explain why they don't know what you are talking about.

If you do not have a blackberry data plan, you will not have service books, and you won't have use of the blackberry/RIM applications that require data.

When you had the other SIM in the device, the one for the account with a blackberry data plan, you needed to force the service books to be pushed to the device. This usually happens when booting up after you reinsert the battery. For info, though, see http://www.blackberryfaq.com/index.p...rvice_books%3F.

EDIT: I'm not sure about this, but if the service provider does not support the storm model, then it may not push service books to the storm anyway. That is beside the point in your case since you don't have a data plan, but it may be relevant if you don't get service books with the borrowed SIM.

Default I must agree

My service provider in the States even has a button to click on their website (when I login to my account on THEIR website on a PC) that sends me NEW service books. They recommend this whenever I have email problems.

I can also call and ask and they do it...it's easier to do myself though.

If they don't know how to send service books...do they really support Blackberries?

Read the thread again. OP says carrier sells blackberrys, and problem wrt using the borrowed SIM seems to be they don't support the model he is trying to use. And in his case, with his SIM, he personally doesn't have a blackberry data plan.
