Hi,

I'm having problems with my BBM. Whenever I input the first few letters of the contact that I'm searching for, BBM just shuts down and only a battery pull will let me reopen. Also, sometimes it wont let me into any existing chat. I can only toggle down and see the contacts I have. Won't let me select anything, and then I have to pull the Battery again. (sigh)

I've tried deleting then reinstalling BBM.

9700 Bold ver. 5.0.0.405 and i have BBM 5.0.0.57

Has it ever worked for you? Did a previous version work for you (.55 or .56)?

What 3rd party applications do you have installed?

Did you upgrade the OS on your device recently?

Its a new device. It came with 5.0.0.296 and asked to upgrade to .405 when I was transferring contacts from the new device.
The BBM works until I type on the main screen (in order to search for a contact) and then it shuts down. Goes blank.

Have you done a full backup, deleted BBM .57, and reinstalled the BBM that came with your OS (then restored the contacts)?

deleted bbm 5.0, restored 4.7, restored contacts to the 4.7 install. then upgraded ota to the 5.0.

Same problem. i typed something in the main screen and then it just went blank.

I have different problems with the same version. I can open one SMS but then I can't read any messages at all after that, email or SMS. I have to do a battery pull to read or write a new message of any type.

What OS are you both running? I have .423 and BBM .057, and occasionally (maybe once every 20 BBM messages or so) I am unable to open a newly received BBM message. But closing BBM and reopening it always solves that issue.

Are you able to restore back to BBM 4.7 and use that version without an issue?

yes i am. I restored back to 4.7 and had no problem.

Had a different problem with threaded text messages. wouldnt open from the main page. would only open through view folders/sms inbox. so upgraded os to .423, and this os doesnt have 4.7 anymore.

I called Blackberry. I had corrupted data in the backup file. I reloaded the OS and restored only my contacts and started from anew. No problems now.
