Default Noob help please

I used the search bar before i posted this, but nothing i found was specific enough to my questions.

I just recently bought a Bold of craigslist and I've been using it for the last 2 days, but I'm worried about the Data plan being automatically added to my account. I'm aware of the sept 6 policy at&t and my last upgrade (around march of last year) was to a smart phone, but i later exchanged it for a non-smartphone. I was told by an AT&T rep that if I blocked data to my phone, I should be safe from the data plan being added to my account. And help and input you may have would be great. Thanks for your time.

We can't promise anything ( I believe I speak for the general public here on the forum). You may block data, yes, but you are still breaking a rule.

They may or may not catch it, and you may or may not have It added. There's really no guarantee of anything

What am I missing here?

You do or do not want to have the Data Plan added to your account?

Sounds like the OP doesn't want a data plan. Problem is, AT&T states that they will add an appropriate data plan to any account using a data device if a plan isn't present on the account.
