Default Blackberry 9700 right convenience key issue!

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

My right side convenience key does not work no matter how firm or how many times i press it. I did a thread search and found some people were having the same issues but they were resolved by pressing the key multiple times. In my case, no matter what I do, it doesnt seem to work. I have a 2 days old blackberry 9700 on the Bell Mobility network. Any guidance will be appreciated.

Thanks,

If it's 2 days old then return it and get a replacement.

Do you have the convenience key set to do something since there's a setting for it to do nothing? I'm sure you do, but have to ask the obvious. Setting is located under Options > Screen/Keyboard.

Man I love this forum . . . pressing harder is indeed the solution.

Tried and tried and tried last night. I didn't want to break anything. This morning, BINGO!

Far cry from my 9000 where if you breathed on the thing it would trigger.

Wirelessly posted (blowin' in the wind)

It's interesting..... The button pushes in with a click and feels like it has bottomed out. But it really on ly takes a little more pressure to push the rest of the way and activate whatever it is you set. I can imagine the OP is like me, maybe. I
've broken more than my fair share of things by forcing things wh
en more force was the wrong thing to do.

That double press is for the camera, right? By default the right key is set to open the camera. Even if you reassign the key, you can use the button for a half-way shutter press with the camera.

I think that the reason for the slightly more "enthusiatic" push is because the initial click in camera mode triggers the auto focus while depressing further triggers the shutter. Don

Ditto. It is not a defect. Read the camera help on the device.

Quote:
2. If necessary, lock the focus on a subject by pressing the Right Convenience key halfway.

3. To take a picture, press the Right Convenience key all the way down.

That was my problem, too, and it was great to find the answer right here, right away. Thanks.

This forum (among others I'm sure) is the reason so many are switching to blackberries from other phones. I visited here abit before I made the dive and glad I did.
