Default T-Mobile Upsell

Frequently when I surf the internet on my T-Mobile 8900 I get a page from T-Mobile explaining that I don't have an internet plan and that I need to have one in order to access the internet.

Yet I do have a plan, and normally I can surf the internet just fine. I can reliably access Yahoo, and other sites. There isn't just one site that causes this, it is lots of sites. I thought it was just my Browser Configuration Setting, but I have that set to Internet Browser, and i still very frequently get that message.

Wirelessly posted (White and Nerdy)

Do you have a blackberru plan, or a regular data plan?

because your paying for the data plan...

so the page you get is a mistake on their end. its harmless, so why bother?

Don't get me wrong... I certainly am curious as to how they can tell what type of phone it is...

I've heard of this happening with iphones on tmo's dumb phone data plan, so its got to be the IMEI or some other unique way that they can tell what type of phone it is.

for some reason, they see you are accessing *non* dumb phone data site (like full blown web sites) but hey think your phone is a dumb phone (that shouldnt need or be able to access full blown sites)

if anybody else can shed anymore light on the situation, please do so

What you're saying is that there are websites that are redirecting him to a t-mobile site. This is incorrect.

The problem is that somehow T-mobiles network thinks that you don't have a full data plan.

The fix is pretty simple. Call t-mobile, tell them you're getting the t-mobile page, and have them re-apply the BIS+BES plan.

no thats not what im saying. I wasn't super clear when i said 'they' in my second to last line. i meant tmobile.

either way, i think the OP has already called to confirm that he's got the BIS plan.
