Dear All,
we have BES 4.1 system. I want to upgrade it to BES5.1 . Do i need to purchase a new license or an upgrade license only? or i can just upgerade the software with 5.1 using the same license?

Hey,

normally you should contact your provider for an upgrade license ... and after it will be ALL Good ... and normally your BES 4.1 key won't change

Hi,
If you have 4.1 Small Business or Professional version , you will need a "trade-up key or unlock key" in order to use those CAL license on BES 5.0.1. However, if you have 4.1 "Enterprise" version you can use those CAL license on BES 5.0.1 "without" a trade-up or unlock key . If you need a trade-up key or unlock key you will need to contact yours sales rep or BB sales ( 1-800-327-9085).

But if it's SB or Pro, why not just move to 5.0 Express?

From what I've seen, for most people it should cover what they need. Or am I missing something here?

only for SBE do you need to upgrade the CALs, BPS CALs work on BES 5.0

There is no upgrade path from SBE/BPS straight to BES 5. Thats why you have to upgrade to Full BES 4.1 first.
