Default BBM keyboard not opening

Please Login to Remove!

I've searched this and cannot find a similar issue. I have a BB Storm 2 running on Verizon.

After the last software update (a couple months ago?) my BBM keyboard won't open unless I back out of it, click the BBM symbol, and try again. When I turn my phone off and back on, sometimes it switches and I have to go to Messages > whatever BBM conversation I need to open the keyboard. I hope that makes sense?

This has been happening the entire time but I am a rather patient person so I've just got around to trying to figure this out now. I've already upgraded to the newest BBM and it hasn't changed.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

I recall that there is some kind of know issue re: BBM groups and the (.607) keyboard. See this link to another thread: (which I found by searching .607 bbm keyboard)
http://www.blackberryforums.com/beta...ml#post1590101

Yes.. it is under 'beta .607', but there is no difference between the beta .607 and the official.
I had installed .607 and went back to .517. PERSONALLY, I wasn't happy with the overall performance of .607
But as they say... "YMMV".... and mine did.

thanks

Yes, this is a known issue with that OS and the current version of BBMessenger.

The simplest workaround is to open your group chat > new chat > you'll see the keyboard displayed and now you can open the existing chat and use the keyboard.

But, you must do that each time you return to the chat.

Another workaround that I have found is just to end the conversation and open a new one whenever the problem happens.

I tried on the Group that I am not the administrator. Now both existing CHAT and New Chat are not showing the keyboard. And the best thing is I can't delete the NEW CHAT I created.

To me it was important to save the chat history so starting a new chat was a pain. I found that opening messenger>pressing the blackberry button>selecting "send chat to">select the group you wish to chat in. This should bring up the keyboard while memorializing your chat history. As long as your active in that chat your keyboard should remain. When you end and return you'll have to redo the aforementioned. Hope you find this work around works for you.
