Default Security wont disable

Please Login to Remove!

new 7290, in the options/security settings the option to disable password protection NOT available. I can change the password, wipe handheld, verify security software, save and close. No change option command available. Any suggestions on how to remove password protection.

That's an IT Policy that's been applied to the phone. Basically the only way to remove it is replace with a different policy which requires a BES server or special tools from RIM.

That means your phone isn't "new"

A policy has been pushed down to your device. The admins of the BES it connected to simply modified the Default policy instead of creating a new one. If your BlackBerry had never recieved a policy, then you would not even seen that section.

Whether new or refurb, did you answer the original post or just throw in your worthless 2 cents?

Could a policy be configured to prevent a BB from syncronizing using Intellisync on the Desktop Mgr. To remove the security IT profile must I connect to BES to remove the offending profile or is there a workaround? I'm not using BES (single user only) Thanks in advance.

There are many threads on how to remove an IT Policy. Search on "remove policy" or "IT policy" and you will see them.

Hope that is worth more to you.

That was extremely out of line and rude.

Send a blank IT Policy to the device, it will remove all existing Policies.

1.) No.

2.) If you're a single user, you'd need to have someone add you to a BES and they would have to "replace" (wirelessly) your existing IT Policy which forces a password, with an IT Policy which doesn't. I really don't see how you're gonna do that (unless you have friends with a BES) but good luck!

Whoever owned it before was on a BES which forced a password on their IT Policy.
