Default Bold batt. Life w/ IHeart...

Please Login to Remove!

Just installed IHeart radio and plays fine and I get the stations I want but it just sucks the life out of the battery.

I listened for about 30 minutes and the batt. went down from full to two bars left....yikes!

Is this normal? Or is there a setting I need to look at for better batt. life?

Thanks...
Cman

Streaming apps will eat your battery. I seem to have more success with Pandora which only plays music. If your phone runs OS 5.0, you may want to upgrade

Thanks for the peer check, I'll look into Pandora for the music and guess the oversize battery for my Bold......since I do like my talk radio.....

It also helps me a bit to use earphones when listening to live music streaming like iheart. It does kill the battery quickly. You might also want to turn down the brightness on your screen, maybe around 40 or so. Every little bit helps.

Does iHeart let you cache a radio station? I'm using Slacker and also experienced fast battery drain when streaming. But once I cached a radio station, battery life was much improved.

Wirelessly posted (Lets Go Canes!)

I understand you wanting of talk radio. You may need to look at other ways to perserve power. Are you other apps shut off? Does your screen/keyboard shut off after 10 seconds?

Here's the info about iHeart Radio on BlackBerry.

It doesn't look like you can cache a radio station. The stations are streaming in real time - maybe that's why. But with the premium version you can save podcasts to your media card.

I have a 9700 and listened to IHeart for about 3 hours yesterday while grilling the ribs. I had half a battery left when I finished. I also listen to IHeart to and from work each day and never had my battery run down.

When you say Bold, do you mean 9700? This phone has the longest battery life I've ever seen.
