Default BB Sim work in Iphone?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey I was wondering if my Rogers BB Sim card with Social Data plan would work in a Iphone 3g which is locked with Rogers aswell? Will this work and will my "Unlimited Social Networking" data plan still be in effect in a Iphone which is with rogers (IE.Msn, Facebook, twitter)? Is there any risk in this? Will it increase my bill in anyway?(Doubt it will, I'm not changing anything other then the phone. And obviously BBM would no longer work cause it wont be in a BB no more...duh Please answer these questions, I need help...Thanks a bunch =)

You need to ask your carrier to be sure. It may.

From what I have heard and read, it does on ATT, until they determine that you have the iPhone and switch the plan, so it might also work on Rogers.

Well if both of them are Roger's as carriers, they won't really find out since its not a change in carrier...will they? Also if they change the plan, do they do so without notifiying you...and what plan do they change it to? Thanks

the carriers can detect they type, version and OS level on cell phones.
The plan they change you to is usually the most expensive so it's in your best interest to do it first.

Quote direct from Rogers support forum: "no need to, just put your black berries SIM into an iphone, the data plan is compatible with iPhone, the sim card will work in either phone as well, no need to swap it unless you damage or break or loose it."

Well I'll still contact Rogers just to make sure theres no additional charges.

Well maybe they just have the one billing plan but I dont understand how they manage the RIM server data or the BIS service. I would get a name of the person telling you this just in case you get problems with extra charges etc.

Good Luck and Welcome to the Forums. Interesting issue.

Thanks for the welcome, well that was just 1 of the many posts I've come accross in the past hour of reasearch on this topic. Almost all the posts have said that if you have a BB data plan, you will not have a problem with just switching over the SIM to a Iphone because they share the same carrier and data services.

Only issue is I only have the "BB SOCIAL PLAN" which is not a FULL data plan, but just a semi data plan which gives me Unlimited Social Networking, I still must connect to wifi for browsing...I'm just wondering if all those Social Networking Services like IM, FB, Twitter and all those will be free because they share the same Data services. Very intereseting issue which many seem to be wanting to know about.

Well after you try, log back and post your findings. Generally I have not seen many be able to do much of what your asking without a full BB data plan but the carriers always think up new plans to make more profit.
