I recently changed my plan, and I do not have data plan anymore (at least for now)
I was under the impression, althogh I don't have data plan anymore, that whenever someone calls me, if that person is in my address book, it would automaticcaly show on the display (caller id) ... but it does not... am I wrong thinking that ??? Am I suppose to see who is calling me or not.. if yes.. someone tell me how to activate that option because it is annoying me ...I did the battery pool already, changed setting for the security option, i'm not on bes... I'm just not sure what to do next.. the phone is pretty much brand new and the caller id used to work when I was on the other plan... I appreciate your help.. cheers..

Yes, I thought like you once. "Why do I need to pay for Caller ID? I already have most everyone in my address book." And figured that I'd still get the number to come through. But alas, I had to subscribe to the Caller ID add-on with Telus for that to work. Otherwise everyone just showed "Unknown Caller".

Caller ID i think is made for security purposes. Because their are some people who might pretend that they are someone you know and could use this as a against you.
I heard once that theirs a syndicate that calls you telling that someone close to you is in an accident and needs money. stuff like that.

a app call "privacy star" works as well, but speaking from working with Rogers BB you need to have the caller ID feature on your account

It doesn't work like that. When a call comes in, it will search your address book to find the contact associated with the incoming number, which doesn't get shipped to your phone if you don't have caller ID.

Regardless of what the incoming caller ID name is, it gets replaced by the associated contact name in your address book. If there are no contacts associated with the number, you'd see the name that is provided by the carrier.

BTW, what's a "battery pool"?
