For what it's worth...
I have not upgraded my VZW 7250 from 4.02. I have EVDO and tethering but I'm hesitant to switch and lose tethering. that said, I do not use VZW Access Manager but I created a new network connection called blackberry modem... as in the FAQ's.

For those that have lost tethering w/ 7250 OS 4.1 - are you using access manager or are you dialing up?

Both worked before, both broke after for me.

I am using access manager, I will unistall it and deleted the bb modems from my machine tonight and go through it again, for me the good far outweights the bad and I will put up with the no tethering or wireless synch issues until verizon releases it. For me the tethering is just a matter of an emergency and wireless synch is just something I really do not need I synch fine with usb as it is. But I will post the results after i redo it.

I noticed a strange occurrence with my OS 4.1 upgrade. I upgraded the OS and the desktop software to 4.1 at the same time. Now when I have my BB connected to my PC (via USB) to charge, it charges up to 90% and then makes the connect/disconnect noise every minute or two, and never charges past 90%.

Just to see if my battery was messed up, I plugged it into the wall charger and it charged to 100% - no problem. Hmmmm......

Anyone else having charging problems?

Tried the tethering on two different PCs with my 4.1 Verizon 7250. No good. Doesn't work with the VZAccess software or a manual dialup connection.

I was thinking about upgrading to 4.1, but mainly for the reason of getting rid of the occasional DCR or 1x/1X. I love the EVDO, but it's very inconsistent on my BB. Anyone notice a consistency in the 1XEV connection?

I previously had my "Compose" icon hidden, and used the "C" shortcut from the home screen. Since the upgrade to 4.1, this does not work. Having investigated with "Show All", I have found that the "Compose" icon is no longer there. This would explain why its shortcut no longer works. Why the icon disapperared - who knows?

Perhaps the lraed74 had the icon exposed during the upgrade?

I had done the two upgrades months apart not at the same time so I do not know if that is the reason but I have been able to charge my BB with an extended battery to 100% both with USB and wall chargers. And fast I may add.

The Compose icon and shortcut have been removed from the OS 4.1 build. This is consistent across 8700, 71xx and 72xx models. lraed74 is the singular exception to this rule.

I dont tether so I havent had any issues so far with 4.1 - the only thing I have noticed is I get bumped off from Ramble, which I never did before. Then if I'm using Yak-on, if I'm on away, it bumps me back to available after a while. Nothing too serious but about the only issue so far.

First, I'd run it all the way down, then charge it full. That might straighten it out.

actually, I think this is theme related. If you download/use the pixelistic theme for the 7250, you'll get a compose icon AND "c" shortcut back..

Good call ... I missed that in the other thread (I haven't paid much attention to themes up until now). Perhaps the default 4.1 themes could be modified to re-enable the "C"ompose function?

Kurichan,

When I upgraded my 7250 to 4.0.2 I could no longer push the phone button and type a name. After posting a message about my problems, someone suggested that I look at phone options and the Phone List View. after the upgrade, mine was set to Call Log and it wouldn't let me type. I changed it to Most Recent and now I can type again after pushing the phone button. You might try this it may solve the problem in 4.1 as well.

Its funny this 4.1 OS is behaving differently for different people. I can dial from the home screen fine and it is set to call log, all i do is I hold the letter key in for a bit and it dials my speeddial for me. I am not a heavy phone user so I really dont know if there was a difference from before, I only tried that ow cause I saw the post here and I keep trying all the features to see if they all work. Again for only the two original issues tethering and wireless synch I have had no issues at all. BTW I also saw here and tried it and it not only looks good but works well is the pixelate plazmic theme. I can do "C"ompose from any place on the home screen, not just in messages like before so some of these features are Theme specific ot at the very least things we are cripling because we do not know how to use the software altogether well.

That was the first thing I tried ... I cannot dial by name from within the Phone app regardless of the list view.

I don't think this is the case necessarily ... I think it boils down to differences in configuration (themes, account provisioning etc.) and differences in the way we describe the features.

Case in point: dialing from the Home screen is not the function that has changed. I can still dial numerically from the Home screen (if my "dial from home screen" setting is turned on) and my speed dial shortcuts still work (hold down a letter to dial a preprogrammed speed dial number). It is the ability to dial by name from within the Phone app that is no longer available.

For all Verizon clients:

I found a way you can upgrade the OS without having to remove the "vendor.xml" file. You need to modify the file. Right click the file, click edit, and paste the following under "<vendor id="0x69" Name="Verizon">"

<bundle id="System" version="4.1.0.194">
<devicehwid>0x04000904</devicehwid>
</bundle>
<bundle id="System" version="4.1.0.229">
<devicehwid>0x1C000504 </devicehwid>
</bundle>

Save the file, load up Desktop Manager. The system will recognize the 4.1 OS when you go to upgrade.

I upgrade to 4.1 from 4.0.2.41 last night, everything works great except for VZW Access Manager, it keeps coming up with "Access was denied because the username and/or password was invalid on the domain"

Anyone know why?

That's a windows error, make sure in the network properties of the connection that you don't have "log on to network" enabled.
