MY friend lost his black berry 8520 and had it barred. He then bought a new handset. 2 weeks later he found his old one and gave it to me. I have had it unlocked will it work to make calls and send texts and receive them also???

If it is barred there is a possibility that it will not be able to operate as it may have been blacklisted. This can be reversed if you have your friend call up the network he was on and ask to have it re-enabled.
