Hi everyone, I am fairly new to BES and I just have a couple questions about SP3 for my Bes5 environment. I have one BES Express, with BAS running on the same box, and two enterprise BES servers, running BAS on a seperate box; all using Exchange 03. I am having trouble finding documentation for installing SP3. I am assuming that i just download the patch, stop the services, and install the patch? On the enterprise side, do I need to install anything for the BAS, or does the patch just go on the two enterprise BES?

If you have that many servers already, you should at least put up one for testing!

For SP3, you don't actually even have to stop the services (though you should for MR1).

There is documentation on BlackBerry's site that covers pre-reqs, I believe, but generally you can just download and install (note, MDS-IS needs to be uninstalled prior/during this process). You need to patch the BAS first, then the BES servers. Patching on the BAS will upgrade the database then patch BAS, after which you can patch the BES servers.

Do the standalone BAS first and this will also upgrade the schema for the db. I would stop all services for this but that's just me (on all BES/BAS instances). After BAS was taken up to SP3 and mr1 we started services on our BES HA, failed over, stopped services on former primary, took up to SP3 mr1, failed back, stopped services on former standby, etc.

I checked, but I do not see (MDSS1) in my drop down, so I would assume it is not installed
