Default Stalling/Battery Life problems with 6.0.0.526+ SOLUTION?

Please Login to Remove!

For those of us with the Phone CPU problem in 6.0.0.526, .534 and .546, I installed the leaked 6.0.0.576, which you can find here. No sign of the Phone CPU problem so far. CAVEAT: this is a true leak and leaks sometimes don't include all the normal quality checks. However, I have noticed no problems so far. In fact, downloads seam a little snappier. Dare I dream that they've implemented HSPA+ in this build?

Is your BB on BES? I found that I did not have any issues after installing OS6 (in my case I tried 534 and 546) until doing the Enterprise Activation and having the server push settings, IT policies and security apps to my BB.

The CPU/phantom phone usage problem (at least for me) seemed to be related to the RSA SecurID software that our comapny is using.

I am currently on day 5 with no issues (running v534).

Mine is using a company BES. I may have spoken too soon. If I look at CPU usage for Now, everything is fine. However, if I look at CPU usage for the day, almost all of the CPU is used by the Phone module. For example, today I have 9h45m of CPU time used and 5h53m idle. Of the time used, 9h20 is by the Phone module. My battery life is OK, but worse than with .480.

I had the problem with .534. How did you get past the problem?

To be honest, I'm not quite sure how the problem was resolved. When I mentioned in detail all the steps I took with my IT guy, he suggested rebuilding my BES mailbox. When the Enterprise activation was done, the CPU/Phone problem did not reappear. Our company uses the RSA SecurIDplatform for mobile security and VPN access code. There was mention that there was an issue with an older version of the RSA software.

I did not reinstall a back-up from BB Desktop Manager, so I had to rebuild all my personal customizations from scratch (themes, bookmarks, etc).

Not a BES issue. I'm on BES for over 8 years now...no issue with CPU /lag etc...
It's more likely a 3rd party software issue, or a bad load OS.

I think we have already ruled out the possibility of it being a bad O/S load or a 3rd party software. A few of us have wiped the bberry clean, done a fresh install of the official .534 and of .546 (I even did with with RIM tech support) and installed no additional apps whatsoever and the problem still came back.

The one thing that we all seem to have in common is that we are all on a company BES that automatically initiates the Enterprise Activation (where each core component gets initialized/sync'd) immediately after the bberry boots for the first time after O/S installation.
I believe it is part of our BES IT policy for this auto activation to occur. It even begins and completes when the 'Mobile Network' is set to 'OFF' under 'Manage Connections'.

In any case, after about 20 hours and a couple weeks of trying to fix this, I gave up and went back to .448. The 'Phone' CPU usage problem doesn't exist for us on .448 for some reason.

I guess the problem is solved!

Try going into Options / Device / Storage and turn compression(enabled) feature off
