Unhappy 9700 hangs on start up

Please Login to Remove!

I know someone has previously posted this kind of problem before but I'm not too technologically-adept so I really need some sort of a step by step explanation on how to solve my problem.

My 9700 suddenly restarted on its own and since then, no matter how many times I try, the same thing happens. The progress bar stops at letter "e" of "BlackBerry" at the start up screen then that's it. I've done a batt-pull, taken out my mini-SD card, sim card, everything! The same problem occurs.

Please, can anyone help me on this?

WHat did you do with the device just before the problem happened the first time? Drop it? Get it wet? Load an app or theme?

Do you have Desktop Manager installed on your PC?

See the FAQ for 2 articles on wiping with Jl_cmdr. Do that and then reload the OS.

I'm actually doing this right now. Apploader Wizard still says "Connecting to the device (JVM)...". How long will it stay that way?

I didn't do anything. It didn't get wet. It just suddenly happened.

If you get to the point of loading fresh Os dont add any third patry apps until your sure the BB is working basic.

Although Point was supposed to work on the 9700 it has caused some issues including stalling the entire unit after use.

If BBSAK doesn't detect your device then try wiping it with JLCMDER & reinstall OS. That should do the trick

Thumbs up Re: 9700 hangs on start up

Thanks for the help in this thread. My wife's bold 9700 had the problem described in this thread. It halted on boot. Using the jl_cmdr and loading the drivers from the posted links I was able to restore the device to health. I thought the device was ready for the trash can, of course it was 2 months outside the 1 year warranty. But thanks to the instructions given the device is now fully operational. It just too bad that the standard blackberry desktop program can't communicate with the device and you have to find an undocumented loader program to load the OS back. I think there were other Blackberry's that I returned that I could have fixed now that I know how to do it. Thank you.
