Hi, each time I connect my BB device to the charger, the batery gets very hot and it does not get charged? Is this a batery problem? Thanks. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
Here's what I know: The BlackBerry battery is not a "dumb" battery like regular AAA, AA, C, and D size rechargeable batteries we've all been familiar with for years. The BlackBerry batteries are "smart" batteries that are read by the charging circuitry. If the battery conditions (like temperature) are not satisfactory, the BlackBerry will not charge the battery.
So, it may be the battery is bad, gets hot, and the charging circuit shuts down. Does the circuit turn on again after the battery cools a little, the battery gets hotter, and the circuit shuts down again. I don't know.
My guess is the battery is bad. Or it may be something in the device as far as I know.
If it were me, I would try to borrow a battery and charge it in your BlackBerry as a test. If all is well, buy a new battery.
If you can't borrow a battery, then buy one, and buy a genuine BlackBerry battery and not a knock-off. Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
I had the same issue with overheating and not charging with my 9700.. I found out it was the early os6 versions for me that caused those symtoms Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile
I had similar problems, i didn't know what to do. my bb charge very quickly or doesn't charge at all and the phone got really hot, also the battery.
after trying and trying, i finally fix the problem. i re-install the os and it was good as new.
hope this helps!
