Default BES 5.0.3 MR5 causes Collaboration Service to fail

Please Login to Remove!

Only installed on my test BES so not a big issue for me. Just wondered whether anyone else has experienced and if so what the fix might be

Hi

Yes the service stopped on my server as well after installation. The initial fix in my case were updating the OCS core services.
Easiest is go to (insert tripple w).microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en%2cen&id=19178]Download Details - Microsoft Download Center - Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 R2 Hotfix KB 968802[/url] and get serverupdateinstaller.exe.
It will verify what you have and update accordingly.
However, if you have multiple domains like we do, like a domain per region, I would wait deploying MR5 in production.
Our European users were unable to signin at all on our American based BES servers due a "bug" which they have a hotfix for for MR1-4 but not MR5.
Only solution for me were to roll back the install and wait for MR6.
That after 3 hours on phone with RIM.

OK, thanks for that. One question - how do I roll back the install?

Now that's the "fun" part. You uninstall BES, and then reinstall Sp3, then apply the latest MR package you had.
In my case we have monitoring, administration and attachment on another server, and on that we could stay on MR5. According to the engineer on the phone the BAS would work just fine despite the different versions. The attachment service he were uncertain about.
Test after it came up confirmed BAS looked to be working fine. And Collaboration service worked too.
But in any case I would call RIM and have them on the phone through the process. Your issue might be different from mine.
Can't wait for MR6 where "another user have logged on to another computer" should be fixed for Collaboration Service.

<groan>

Yeah, that's always been my understanding too. Just when you said "roll-back" I thought maybe you'd discovered something. Ah well.

Thanks anyway but updating OCS components has made no difference on my set up. Looks like a rebuild tomorrow then.

Thank goodness for test servers I say !

The same situation is here, after the upgrade to 5.0.3MR5 BBIM and MDS services were stopping a few seconds after start.
The update of OCS 2007 R2 components (core and API) did no help us.
Following many hours spent with DART team and allot of useless advises, I have find one life saving KB15153 (RIM).
You shall edit rimpublic.property file; for both MDS and BBIM services and add xxx8220;SRP.MaxNumOfConnections=X; where X = number of instances (in our case is 10) of BESCore services (active and passive together).

Both services are working now!!!
