Question is: How hard is it to side load Android apps onto the BB? I've tried to Google it and I've received numerous methods. Guess I'll have to cross that bridge when (or if) I get a Z10 or Q10.
Hey HashGordon, I have not gone thru all the replies yet. However I do have Google Map on my Z10. I downloaded it from apps.goodereader, then side-loaded it onto my Z10 wirelessly via my web browser.
The only problem with sideloading is that the "stay awake" function does not work properly on many (if not all) apps.
Incidentally I have converted a number of apps that are not otherwise available; the number that work fine is surprisingly high. But the refusal to honor the "do not sleep" API call, along with the inability to set "when plugged in, do not sleep" in the device's settings is a DEADLY combination for anything that has to stay running.
If you're using it to navigate and it shuts itself off because the phone ignores the "Stay awake" request from the API, you will find it to be rather troublesome (and that's being nice.)
It's an especially big problem if you're using it in your car.
