BB7520 stuck in cal mode ... any suggestions welcomed.
Hi, all:
While trying to download a .doc attachment from an email, my Nextel BB7520 restarted and displayed the following:
Device in cal mode.
S/N mismatch. RBSNx
V: Vibrate, L: LED, B: Buzzer.
Now it's stuck in this cal(ibration?) mode, and I can test all the keys just fine, but can't access any phone features. No home screen, nothing. Both soft and hard resets have failed to rid me of this "cal mode."
Tech support is clueless. Any ideas?

hmmm... never seen that before, but I sure would like to.
My suggestion: Call your techsupport back and get them to put in a call to RIM (they'll conference call you) to resolve it...

I had a similar inciedend happen to me. The Cal mode screen came up with the word START to start. (not knowing what it was and being courius I typed in START.) Now my PIN has changed to FFFFFFF and i can not register on any network. I have done a wipe via JavaLoader and reloaed the OS (from Tmobile). And still nothing. Any advice????

Unfortunately, no. I had to return mine to Nextel for an exchange (which I'm still waiting on, BTW). Getting a little wary of these devices ...
Sorry I couldn't help.

I'm having the same issue with my 7250. I went to open an attachment and bam, there it went. Has anyone found a resolution to this issue?

I've found that if I type "go" at this screen I can get into another diagnostic screen. Once the diagnostic test is complete, the screen displayed "PASS" in really large letters. Typing "RET" takes me back to where I started. But it's still not working.

Solution to PIN FFFFFF
Please read the following Article Number: KB-03882
Support - Messages cannot be sent from the BlackBerry handheld
Last Updated: 26 April 2005
Article Number: KB-03882
Summary
This article applies to the following:
BlackBerry Wireless Handheld™
SDR20161, SDR39564, SDR43138
Problem
After restarting the BlackBerry Wireless Handheld, you are unable to send messages. Symptoms of this problem might also include:
On the handheld Status screen, the PIN has been changed to FFFFFFFF.
The handheld is stuck in a persistent “DE365” error state.
The message “type 'S','T','A','R','T' to continue” appears on the handheld.
The message “S/N mismatch” appears on the handheld.
Resolution
Backup the data on the handheld, then contact your service provider to arrange a return material authorization (RMA) for your handheld. You will only be able to back up the data if your handheld is displaying FFFFFFFF on the Status screen. If you are experiencing any of the other symptoms (for example, persistent “DE365” error state), you will not be able to back up the data, since the Java applications need to be running in order to perform the backup.
Additional Information
Keywords

Hello, One of our Clients brought me a BB 7290 with simular text on the screen : Cal Mode : type 'S','T','A','R','T' to start the device.
When I try to rest the handheld (via Javaloader, it crashes and say me something (on PC screen) : "Unable to reconnect to the device during a multi stage load operation".
Here in Belgium, we all use AZERTY keyboards, ... same as in France. So I typed S T A R T, ... and (like some of you already discovered, nothing happend) - By curiousity, i tried typing [B]S T Q R T instead of START [/B ](replacing A with Q) ... and the Handheld started to boot.
When I tried to upload the 4.1 Firmware update for the BB device, it no longer displayed the FAIL message, ... and everything was back to normal, ...
Something i just noticed now, ... Altough my BB has a AZERTY KEYBOARD, even now, after the resetting and updating of the software, ... when I push the A button, it keeps displaying a Q on the screen !!
so can anyone help me out ?? How do I change back from QWERTY to AZERTY ?? Appearently it must have been set to Qwerty all the time, ... but on the outside its an AZERTY keyb. ...
ANY ID's ?? always welcome, ...

Stuck in Qwerty Mode instead of Azerty or otherwise
Hi,
We are a cellphone reseller, Mobistar (Part of Orange Group) Dealer in the Region of NW Flanders - Belgium.
The only solution we found, was to send the device back to Servicom (reparation service).
They 've swapped the device for free ...
We couldn't find the solution ourselves this time .
