hello all, newbie here, I have a 7750 with os 3.7, that was given to me by my company. I think we use Bell as a provider. Thats all I know. I downloaded webmessenger 2.2 but cannot connect. I set up a username with my pc and can get it to work there, but when i login with my rim, it tells me I am out of range? I tried all the different ports that were suggested in the FAQ, but still no luck. can someone suggest anything?

For the model 7750, you need BES/MDS in order for WebMessenger or Verichat to work.

can you explain more? how do I know if I have a BES/MDS server. I work for a large company that uses our blackberries for service call stuff and parts ordering, and we have data service capability. Does that mean we would have one of these servers? how can I find out without trying to find out who to ask in...who knows what department?

There's an easy way to find out if your business is using a BES.
On your BlackBerry, check your Options->Service Books.
Do you have several Desktop entries that say the following:

Desktop [CICAL]
Desktop [BrowserConfig]
Desktop [IPPP]
Desktop [CMIME]
Desktop [IPPP]

If so, your company has BES. You're in luck! It may need to be configured (ie MDS turned on), you need to contact your system administrator.

However, if there is no Desktop entries, and if you're already paying for the BlackBerry yourself, you need to go to the Hosted BES FAQ:

You have to purchase this from a third party for about $10-$25 per month. You probably won't be involving your business in this; this would be completely a third party thing.

in my service book I have these entries:

WAP tansport BMC secure
WAP browser BMC secure
Blackberry internet browsing service
IPPP for BIBS (IPPP)
blackberry browser


I am not paying for the blackberry, and dont really want to bother any admin guys in case they dont want us using them for this. so If i can just do it myself it would be best. I am sure you understand.
