Default ringtone volume

Please Login to Remove!

I'm new to this forum. Just got a 8700c and love it.

One minor question: The ringtone used for the phone is not as loud as it sounds when I set it up and test it in the profiles panel. I've tried using the profile "loud" and it still is not as loud as when tested.

Any thougths?

It's a bug with the 8700c.

You have two choices.

1. Upgrade to the ZEN OS and it'll solve it.

2. Make a speaker phone call and turn the volume of the speaker phone to maximum volume. Then end the call. The ringtone volume should now be louder.

If you are not afraid of upgrading your OS on your BB, I would give the ZEN OS a shot. I did and I'm loving it! And there process is spelled out with ease. Just follow the instructions and you can't go wrong.

Agreed on the Zen tip. It's easy to do if you follow the instructions exactly as written. The rest just falls into place. It makes a WORLD of difference.

Test it. Make a call, turn on speakerphone, turn speakerphone volume down about 3/4 way, end call, call your BB from another phone, see how loud the ringer is. If noticeably low, you need a fix...

Now THIS is why there are forums. I NEVER would've tried that. And it works great. Many thanks. I'll look into Zen...but changing the operating system sounds like a technology suck hole that I may not want to go down. I want to use the device not screw with it so I hope this Zen program really is user friendly.

FYI
I have the tmobile OS .284 with the Blackberry.alx modify, changing volume during phone "mode" doesn't affect the ringtone volume.

It's easier than you think, and a bit educational as well. Any idiot can do it, even Geckos! (as you spend more time in here you will learn why this is funny.....true, but funny....)

I did try to upgrade to Zen but it didn't work. Tried to follow your steps as carefully as I could but when you asked to delete a file in the shared folder I discovered that the file nor the folder was there. I created the folder and put the Blackberry.alx file there. When the Desktop Manager opened it did NOT prompt for an upgrade.

If the folder wasn't there you don't have the handheld OS installed on your desktop. You need to download and install it from your carrier's web site and then start the entire upgrade process again.
