Question 8700g Notification LED

Please Login to Remove!

I have a brand new 8700g from T-Mobile. I am amazed at the functionality of this device. I only have one minor "issue" with it, if you can call it that; Twice already has it occurred that the Notification LED stopped flashing (it went off) while network coverage was excellent and data trasnmission was superb. I could make and receive phone calls and send and receive data over T-Mobile's EDGE network, but the LED did not flash any color.
Has anyone else experienced this with their BlackBerry? I have found this to be a minor nuisance, as when the LED does not flash, it seems as if there is no network coverage, or the device has been turned off.
All profiles are correctly set so the LED flashes continuously. Auto off option is disabled. Any suggestions?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8700g: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0) BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Have you checked under options -- screen / keyboard and make sure LED coverage indicator is set to ON?

If so try a hard reboot (remove battery)

I've had this to happen on my almost 4 week-old G several times. The only cure I've found is to go back into Options -->Screen/Keyboard -->LED Coverage Indicator, select 'Off', accept the setting, go back and reselect 'On' and all is fine (until the next time it happens). Only happened maybe 4-5 times so far. Don't see any pattern emerging yet either.

This happens to me on a daily basis. The battery is full, the network coverage is there, the settings are right, but nevertheless the LED notification goes dark after a few hours. And when somebody calls me, the LED notification wakes up and starts happily blinking again. Does anybody know what causes this?

Thanks,

Karin.

Don't know, but in my phone and my BlackBerry that is the first thing I turn off. It saves on battery, and I can always check on the type of signal) gprs. GPRS, edge and EDGE and the strength of the signal by looking at the screen.

I've had the 8700g for 3 weeks now and haven't had this issue BUT I have noticed the red (messages waiting) LED versus the green seems to be somewhat inconsistent. I'm not sure but I think other apps (SRA IM, BlackBerry messenger) may affect the LED - do you have any 3rd party stuff like this installed?

Running Telstra for several days now. Not certain if this issue has appeared since I installed it. Haven't paid that much attention, to be honest. No 3rd-party apps installed.

This happens to me on a daily basis. I have the T-Mobile 8700g with the standard BB OS v4.1.0. I don't have any 3rd party apps, just out-of-the-box with BIS and OZ IM. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Karin.

This is strange guys, since I let the battery totaly empty last Monday, I have not had the issue...but then again I have played with the LED Coverage Indicator settings a bit, so this may have helped a little. Who knows, maybe this is an undocumented power saving "feature"....nevertherless, I still love this thing. Best phone/pda I have ever owned.

I can't let this one go by. What do you mean you "played with the LED Coverage Indicator settings a bit?"

Rumpole;
By playing with it I meant that I turned the LED coverage indicator to "on" and "off" alternatively a couple of times.
