Default rogers bis 2.0 released... or not...

Please Login to Remove!

noticed that rogers webclient now redirects to the bis 2.0 portal login. logging in still redirects to the old site however, with no prompt to upgrade. anybody else tried this?

i'd be interested to see if new user profiles are created within the 2.0 system and they just haven't provisioned for migration of current bis 1.0 users yet. guess we'll see over the next few days.

It is released as per a sales bulletin that we received today!

old users arent auto migrated, they have to call in to data tech support and have them provision your account.

it's voluntary
you need to sign into your BIS and accept if you want to upgrade or not
if you don't you won't be ugraded

Default Rogers 2.0

I phoned Rogers to ask about the upgrade to 2.0 they told me it is only for new users and they are not currently upgrading current customers. I phoned right back and asked them to delete my BIS account so I could create a new one and they did, with no questions asked I tried to use the same username but it would not allow me to. I created a new one logged in and was able to use my original e-mail address. So far so good.

Since my initial post, I've called and been successfully upgraded. Everything is working well. *DO NOT* talk to the wireless reps, ask directly for Blackberry tech support and they will upgrade your account. The wireless reps knew nothing at all about it.

They basically delete your existing account for you and tell you to create a new one. I was able to do so with the same credentials without any issues.

Just finished call with tech support.

They do not migrate your account. If you want to use 2.0, they will delete your current 1.8 account and provision your PIN on 2.0. Thus allowing you to create a new 2.0 account through the http://www.rogers.com/bis site.

I did it and it's great.

I've upgraded to BIS as a result of this posting. Talk about a downgrade.. you can't set the 'reply to' address anymore. Lame.. You are stuck adding pop3 accounts which take 5-15 minutes to deliver messages..

This pretty well defeats the purpose of having a Blackberry..

There are a couple good threads in the forums regarding how to configure BIS 2.0 and gmail, as well as the pros and cons for 2.0 vs. 1.8.

I use it with three IMAP accounts, and I'm very happy with things. Each account you configure sets a reply to email address. You can also specify one for the [email address] default.

If you want to see the advanced configuration settings when you create a new account, put in bogus information. You'll then be taken to a screen where you can configure everything manually. Necessary if you want to use POPS or IMAPS.
