Does anyone know how I can set my BB to be able to read e-mail messages written in Cyrillic letters ie. Russian?
When I receive these eumails on my BB they are unreadable. Any help would be very appreciated.

Unless a Russian carrier sells a BB and you can download their handheld code, no.

Blackberry supports UNICODE. Tell your Russian friends send you emails in UNICODE (UTF-8). That should do.

Tell them: "Send me emails in encoding UNICODE (UTF-8)."

If you don't know what I am talking about, just copy and paste above phrase and put it in reply of every 'unreadable' email you receive. They will know.

Here is Web site for reference: www.unicode.org

Open that email, click on scrollwheel, scroll down until you see Show Address and click again. You will see sender's email address instead of sender's name, and that email address must be in English.

Unicode is an international encoding standard for characters and covers a lot of character sets. As email was originally designed and implemented by English speaking countries it was never designed with anything other than ASCII characters in mind. Those really only cover English characters. Over time encoding formats were created to allow different content types to displayed over email which is still running off that old design and has been extended but never really overhauled.

KOI8 is used by a lot of Cyrillic alphabet users for text encoding. As KOI8(-R/U) is a specific encoding scheme for Cyrillic only it is not currently supported by the BlackBerry. To view these messages the original sender would need to use Unicode (UTF-8) encoding. Here is an example where this option can be set in Microsoft Office. This particular screen can be found through Tools -> Options -> Mail Format -> International Options
