Default When will SPRINT get a BB8700?

Please Login to Remove!

Any inside information? I am not interested in the IDEN 8700 (Nextel). I was more interested about a BB that Sprint would offer on their high speed network. Lets hear all those secrets!

Yeah, I remember when he sent his 8700 back and switched back to nextel because the 8700 was too cheaply built for him.

I can't believe the lack of support for iden service since sprint took over!! There is a big range of local, state and national government along with EMS, Fire, and other public safety that use iden. They won't develop a Treo for iden, no moto Q , and now the possible of getting rid of the BB line for iden where does a person look for a smartphone if you can't leave your companies 2-way iden network. I talked to a sprint store and they state if you need a smartphone switch to sprint for your data needs! I can't .. If I could I would have switched a long time ago to verizon or sprint etc I could get a 8700 or Treo or Q but if you are stuck on iden you have no other option then BB !!!! If they goes away with BB 8700 for nextel it sure looks like the end for iden is not to far away!!

sorry for the rant!!! I am just sick of all these new devices since the being of the first smartphone crazy and the Treo 600 and no support!!

Well, "they" would be Palm, which never had plans to release a Treo for iDEN. The i930 and the two BBs are the iDEN smart phones. Phoenix-platform phones are forthcoming (the end of iDEN is not near), the 7520 and 7100i are still great devices and Nextel has never had the latest or greatest devices, just solid phones with excellent PTT.

Also, the CDMA line of Electronics is going to be 8703, no? So the 8702, found on Nextel's site, could still very well be for iDEN, pace GG.

according to the hub and some other rumors , the iden 8700 is dead and it will be sprint. If you noticed there is a treo, BB , 6700ppc phone and other smartphones. What does nextel have , just the 7100 and 7520 only BB devices no other support by treo, Q,PPC phones etc. I think the manufactures see the iden side as construction , works , and public saftey market, they forget about the fans who need and want smartphones alot of business use smartphones. The 930 is a poor excuse of a smartphone and in my eyes doesn't count.

Well, the Q is made by Motorola, same manufacturer as the i930, who, I'm sure, doesn't care too much what you view as a smartphone. The 930 runs WinMo Smartphone edition--so, other than a Windows Mobile smartphone sold by Motorola (incidentally the Q runs WinMo Smartphone edition), Nextel has the Blackberry, in two versions, which have debuted Yahoo Messenger and 4.1 of the OS. "According to rumors" doesn't hold a lot of weight with me. The reality is outside of a device running the Palm OS, Nextel has devices that run the popular handheld operating systems on a worldclass PTT network. What exactly can't you do on a 7520 or 7100i that you can do on an 8700, because I can tell you the abilities of the reverse.

ok, there is alot that the BB can't do over Palm or PPC 5.0. As far as over the 8700 i don't know. Can you do word and excel file viewing, pics, powerpoint? What is the processor difference between the 8700 ,7100 and 7520. Is the bluetooth better on the 8700 over the 7520? send and end buttons are a diffrence and I guess the keyboards would be personal peference. Bright screens on the new ones over the 7520 and isn't the 8700 today screen skinable?
