i kept getting the Uncaught exception: java.lang.NullPointerException when i tried to get into the phone feature.

after hard booting many times, it started to give me this:
Uncaught exception: ApplicationRegistry.getOrWaitFor (0x741435135c403df7) owner died thread [Thread-1000554496,5]

Please help! i cant get past this to even the main screen now!

do i have to wipe, (and how to), or can i just go into the desktop mgr and clear all and then restore?

My guess is that you'll have to wipe and restore, but before you do remove third party apps one at the time and try the phone. I know I kept getting exceptions every time I tried to dial a number (address book selections worked OK) by pressing the number keys while in the phone app. I narrowed it down to the Plasmic Theme Reader or some interaction between it and something else. I removed it and everything's fine except I can't use my favorite themes.

I wiped and reinstalled just to make sure everything worked as it should. I restored the PIM data via IntelliSync and re installed the apps private party apps one at a time. It left me with some preferences to reset, but I was afraid my backup would mess something up.

how do you wipe a blackberry and reinstall? is this all via the desktop mgr (clearing dbs with intellsync advanced)?

also, i dont have any 3rd party apps, just what came with it.

can i maybe just delete the phone app and reinstall? how?
