Default Email filter question?

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking to get a blackberry for personal use and leaning towards the 8700c unless I can hold out for the Pearl.

I understand that I can access my yahoo email if I subscribe to yahoo's premium POP service. I also read that this may not be necessary. Anyway, is there a way to filter out junk mail? I am so used to yahoo's BULK junk mail box.

You are correct that only a Mail Plus account will sync with your BB.

There, under POP Access & Forwarding, simply set it to "I don't want to receive any messages that SpamGuard thinks are spam"

That said, GMail does as good a job at filtering spam and works for free.

You definitely need to filter spam before email gets to your Blackberry. You can use the BIS filters but it's pretty futile.

actually it depends on what carrier you have and what version of BIS you are running

BIS 2.0 allows you to use free Yahoo! accounts and doesn't send you email that is in your bulk folder

Cingular BIS 2.0 does not yet allow this as per my knowledge (i could be wrong) and therefore you do have to pay for a Yahoo! account in order to add it

also, the BIS filters aren't bad at all i find - perhaps it's just the way i have mine set up (to forward only email sent to or cc'd to my actual email address) - i get maybe one spam email a month this way

Cingular BIS does NOW indeed allow yahoo(free email) to work. Actually as of yesterday. May of us were able to set it up without issue. Works like a charm now.
