I used to prefer the holster until I got the 'Active' holster from Bell Mob. It relies on two elastic bands to hold the B/B in place, so if you're running to the car two to three steps in you'll see your phone fly out and do cartwheels on the pavement. Battery backing comes off, battery flies out. Thats a tense couple of moments hoping its going to turn back on!

So I put it in the holster, than that in my jacket pocket.

pocket. I can't stand phones on my hip/belt. I'm able to wear jeans most of the time, and I like jeans that have the carpenter/utility style side pocket just above the knee on the right leg, which is where I've always kept my cellphones and now my 8700g. Only flaw is making sure it doesn't slip out if you put your legs up on a desk or something, but even then, thats a rare thing. I've actually talked to some friends who are clothing designers about making me jeans with either a snap-button on top of the pocket, just to prevent it from ever falling out.

Its a great spot to keep your phone as its not much of a reach to retrieve and it keeps your pockets free and clear of any bulkiness of a phone - you can't even tell when its on the leg.

I have a screen protector and thats it, though I have considered putting one of the thin leather 'skin' cases on it for extra protection.

HOLSTER all the way! Easier to get at when the phone rings and less likely to get all scrathed up and stuff! Packets are for change, wallets, and keys nothing else!

Holster because it goes to sleep and saves battery power.

Holster clips look stupid. Sorry. I find the 8700 is small enough that it fits in my jeans, pants, or other jacket pocket without a problem. That being said, I do sometimes use the holster clip when I'm wearing a suite. The jacket hides the clip and I don't have the extra weight.

Thanks for all of the replies! I didn't think that there would be so many pocket guys, but you're pushing 30%.

Keep 'em coming.

I would say pocket.. but I have a bit of a dilemna. I put my Nokia 8801 in the front pocket of my jeans and now that I have two phones in one pocket, I think the Pearl would lose. I have to carry two phones because I'm obsessed. But I want to pocket them and can't.. oh what to do.

My keys, coins are in one pocket.

Might have to get a case for the pearl so it doesn't get beat up. No cases out yet though on the market. There is no way I'm wearing two phones on my belt. One is bad enough.

Oh yeah.. I'm new here.. directed from HOFO. Hi Everyone!!!

i want to use holster and bought a Krusell case which it can clip on my belt. however, the leather is very thick and i can hardly push the wheel and push the esc and side quick buttons. love the design but if i can't use those key buttons and wheel, i won't be using the case.

i tired to use the krusell case for 5 mins and i put it in my closet :(

I want to amend my answer to say holster with no clip placed in the pocket. I figured this was just a given. I don't put it "naked" into my pocket.

I use the holster. But, I REMOVED THE CLIPPER from the holster so it would fit nicely into my pants pocket. I don't mind the hole on the holster after the clipper was removed. However, another guy at work taped his card visit over the hole on the inside of the holster to prevent lint to get through the hole. And yes, you can remove the clipper from the holster. It's a little bit tricky but doable. Don't use any other holster because it seems that only the original holster comes with the little metal bit to help turn off the screen to reduce battery consumption
