Default Got a Radio Shack 2.5/3.5 adapter to work with a piece of tin foil....

I know this sounds stupid but I was playing around with a Radio Shack adapter and took a tiny piece of tin foil and put it inside the 3.5 female hole so that it would touch both black rings and then plugged my 3.5 headset all the way in. Then plugged it all the way into my phone and it worked in both earphones.
I then tried the same with an adapter I bought on ebay for my ROKR that was only getting mono sound with my Pearl and got sound on both as well. I'm pretty sure that its not "true stereo" but for $3 it sounds pretty good and doesn't fall out or pause if I move like the spacer idea did....

Hats off for ingenuity.

Thumbs down for the hazards if that foil gets stuck inside something.

Eh, the worst that would happen is it get stuck in my $3 adapter. Don't really care about that. I'd never stick foil in the phone, thats for sure.

if you were only getting sound in one ear and are now getting sound in both by using a piece of tin foil, i would imagine its bridging the connection far enough up the adapter plug to let the full contact of your headphone plug be touched.

so basically you have dual mono. it's just now able to send the same sound to both contacts of your headphone plug while in the modified adapter so that both ear pieces are audible.

UNLESS the adapter is indeed made for and indicates on the packaging that its a stereo 2.5-->3.5 adapter. in which case i dont know why it wasnt working in the first place as the pearl is stereo. and with the tin foil its now probably crossing signals and youre still getting dual mono when you SHOULD be getting stereo

Yeah, like I said in my first post I didn't think it was true stereo. I have since tested it and it is indead mono stereo. I don't really care though. It sounds good enough for me until one that I ordered comes....
