Default T-mo 7100 SIM into an 8100...

Please Login to Remove!

Hey Folks,

I'm wondering if there will be any adverse affects if I take the original SIM from a BB 7100 and stick it into a new Pearl? I'm pretty sure there are different 'generation' SIM cards? Will the new pearl be lacking any features with this older SIM?

Thanks all! :-D

I've had the same SIM card for years in every BB since the 5810... You will not lose any features or functionality. One guy here just put his Omnipoint SIM in an 8100 and it is fine.

It's true that your 7100 SIM will work fine in the 8100. However, moving the sim is NOT all you need to do to transfer service. You also need to have your carrier activate the Pearl's PIN. Just moving the SIM will only get you voice (and possibly non-e-mail data, but in my experience not) on the new phone.

Did you guys notice that the 8100 seems to have a bigger SIM slot than the 8700 or 7100? My SIM slides around a lot in there, though it hardly matters with the battery on it.

Note that this can all be changed online with an IMEI/PIN swap. No phone call needed so long as the RIM data plan is on the account.

Just did that 3 weeks ago with my 8100.
