This is a pretty good app. Works great as a backup for those times like two days ago when RIM seemed to be having delays in pushing email to devices (a whole different story). I have my gmail account forwarded to my [email address] account. This just adds redundency for me for the odd times when push email isnt working correctly.

I did see a note above that someone was looking for the app to auto complete email addresses so you do not have to type the whole thing in? Mine does that. After one or two letters it works just like Gmail on the PC and lists all my contacts that begin with that letter/letters.

When I go to mobile.google.com I get this message:

HTTP Error 503:
Service Unavailable

The server is currently unable to handle your request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server. Please try loading a different page. Contact your service provider if this problem persists.

Anyone else get that?

Thanks.

My BIS account gives me access to the last 30 days of emails. My Gmail account is an online archive of all my business and personal email correspondance over the last two years. Any application that gives me quicker and more detailed access to that archive when I'm out of the office is invaluable.

You have to go to gmail.com/app

Remember, I said gmail.com... I made a mistake by going to google.com/app

When I downloaded the Google Services bundle (mail, maps, news, search) it added a Google Services entry under the device Options which has checkboxes for all four items.

Try going from the Home screen to Options and see if Google Services is listed there.

Whenever I try to connect to my Gmail using the new Gmail Mobile application I get the following message: "The program is unable to connect to the server. This is likely a temporary problem. Please wait one minute and then try again."

I've uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted, etc but still get the same results. I'm assuming that this is happening because Bell Mobility does not have an open TCP stack ...

Have any other Bell Mobility users had an successes/failures using this new application?

I must be an idiot or something. I can't get this @#$% thing to work. I'm using a 7520 and running on a BES. I have no problems surfing the internet or anything else, but this GMail app keeps popping up the message above and never loads my mailbox. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Try Alt+Esc to multitask-away the application.

Alt+Esc brings up a task switch similiar to Windows Alt+Tab. BlackBerries are good multitasking machines now... (You can load a webpage in the background while reading or replying to an email, etc, or copy and paste text between two different applications on a BlackBerry!)

Default GMail hangs on 'Loading' on TMO UK; is BES needed?

I managed to install the suite but the Gmail app just hangs. It initially gets stuck loading the Inbox, but it can be induced to open a Compose mail window, which is responsive until I try to send, when it hangs too. After failing to send, I get an error message about 'not having a data connection', though I have tcp enabled, and can use a data connection to browse and access IM services.

Is there some kind of setting that has to be enabled, apart from the various access rights that are set when the apps are first loaded? Or are these apps somehow dependent on a BES connection (I am on a BIS plan)?

Thanks,

JPB

I think its a UK thing, I'm on O2 and can't get it to work. It brings up a message along the lines you need a data connection and some configurations. I can view Google Maps fine, and full internet, but just not the effing thing!

Same here on my Vodafone 8707 and my O2 7290.
The 8707 is going via an internally hosted BES Server and not a 3rd party.

It does work fine on O2 on a 6230 or a K800i on O2.

My Gmail icon is located within my Applications Icon on my home screen. How can I create the Gmail icon on my home screen? Thanks.
